PDS – Surviving the crunch!

In a tough climate some companies within the building environment are suffering, and with a dramatic drop in spending, some companies are being driven to the edge.One company, who is continuing to flourish in the down turn, is Performance Doorset Solutions (PDS), based in Lancashire.  

The company’s Managing Director, Tim Fairley explains why:  “We have noted that yes, some building developments across the UK have been put on hold, but some areas are very much still active, for example Social Housing, an area in which we have historically invested more of our time in serving as the need for multi occupancy and social developments is ongoing.  

PDS have worked on several projects within the sector including The Ridge development, a multi occupancy housing project in Knutsford, Cheshire. This included specialist 4m x 4m entrance screens for the communal hallways for each block of flats. PDS were able to utilise their knowledge and expertise to supply a bespoke size door system, which incorporates both high security locking and electronic access.” The contract was carried out in conjunction with Richardson Projects to supply Great Places, a division of the Manchester Methodist Housing Association. 

“Another area which is profiting from the crunch and area in which we have seen an increase in sales in, is within the home improvements sector. Although people aren’t moving, they are often revamping their property in anticipation of the end of the slow down.” PDS have recently opened an extension at their factory in Littlebourough, Lancashire, and have now expanded into factory finished windows and stairs.
