Opening doors for the Rochdale community

In climate that is threatening jobs across the North West, a Rochdale company are celebrating after acquiring Acorn Glass which has created more jobs in the area.
 

Bespoke doorset and window manufacturer, PDS, based in Littleborough Rochdale, have adopted a positive outlook to the recession and are continuing to invest in the local community. The acquisition of the glazing company, also in Rochdale, has bought the PDS team total up to 100.
 

 “We are maintaining an optimistic outlook during these tough times,” said Managing Director, Tim Fairley. “We are lucky to be in the position where we are recruiting rather then making redundancies, one of the reasons behind this is due to our multi skilled workforce. If orders for door sets are quiet, we’ll simply transfer the team into other areas of the business, in our case windows and joinery.”
 

PDS (Performance Doorset Solutions) moved to Greenvale Business Park, Littleborough in 2007 and have since created a further 50 jobs. They acquired City Joinery in 2008 which led the company to diversify into windows and joinery and expand their premises to house an additional factory finishing plant and state of the art woodworking machinery. 
 

The takeover of Acorn, which will manufacture the glazing for PDS doorsets and windows, has created an extra 7 jobs for the Rochdale area.
