Modern entrance systems are now expected to be pleasing to the eye, whilst offering intrinsic resistance to weather, structural distortion, potential intruders and accidental impact. However, they must also provide for varying degrees of access control and of course, a means of emergency egress in the event of fire. A central feature of the PDS communal door is the innovative AV2E multipoint locking system (see articles page safety & comfort) which automatically secures the door whenever it is shut, not merely at the latch, but also at both extremes, with substantial upper and lower steel hook bolts, - delivering as standard, constant, high security by obstructing any attempts at manipulation or forced entry. Authorised access is achieved electronically with a fob or via an existing trigger such as a key pad or phone entry system, which activates the door’s factory fitted electric motor, withdrawing the hooks and latch, in a smooth, effortless manner. Egress is easily effected via the single “one hit” inside lever handle, but can also be linked or combined with existing fire alarm and door opener systems. All PDS communal doors are also fitted with intelligent high security “one way” lock cylinders which, although allowing manual entry to a key holder from outside,( particularly useful in the event of a power failure) will not permit the system to be deadlocked mechanically, from outside or inside, ensuring the electronics are not obstructed from operating effectively.
