Unlike timber, the PVCu frame does not support combustion and also delivers major thermal, weather resistance and freedom from future maintenance benefits compared to hardwood. Moreover, the PDS fire door has been Intelligently designed to provide the same high specification in terms of enhanced security and sound insulation with intrinsic resistance to intruders, surface impact, and thermal distortion, without differentiating or compromising the highly favourable visible appearance. The opportunity to choose from a variety of non wired, clear and obscure fire resistant double glazing, further facilitates the accomplishment of a consistent, coherent overall appearance for projects involving a combination of housing stock, including high rise, communal and sheltered blocks, and other multi level dwellings, where protected access to an external escape route may be required.
Product attributes and differentiators
- Doors and frames Ukas tested and approved to FD30S standard
- Virtually maintenance free
- Remarkably authentic timber door appearance with highly embossed woodgrain surfaces
- Outstanding insulation properties - five times more efficient than traditional wooden doors with regard to preventing heat loss. All safety glazing is Part ‘L’ and Part ‘N’ compliant. U value comfortably exceeds the requirements of building regulations approved document ‘ L’ at 1.2 W/m2K for a solid door in a PVCu frame and 1.5 for a half glazed version.
- Significant sound reduction - dense polyurethene inner core and solid PVCu inner framework contribute to the impressive weighted sound reduction ratings of 32dB for half glazed door and 33dB for a solid style, well within Building regulation Part E standards.
- Exceptional stability - in sharp contrast to many Themoplatic composites and PVCu doors, PDS Fibreglass doors will not experience harmful thermal distortion when exposed to high temperatures or long periods of direct sunlight, even when finished in darker shades. Demonstrating our confidence in this regard, we have recently supplemented the Red, Blue and Green “through colour” options for standard Fibreglass doors, with the addition of Black.
- Integral Approved Document Part ‘M’ compliant anodised aluminium, low level threshold - non slip, barrier free, self draining with built in thermal break
- Doors guaranteed against bowing, twisting, rotting, rusting, splitting, cracking or delamination. Significantly outperforms typical Steel faced, timber and PVCu doors, with regard to impact resistance.
- High performance weather, smoke and fire seals and adjustable lock keeps ensure excellent weather resistance, elimination of cold draughts and the impedance of smoke passage.
- Independent third party accreditation via the BM Trada Enhanced security Q - Mark scheme, assures the specifier that all doorsets supplied are to the same exacting standards as those successfully tested to PAS23 & 24 Secured by Design performance standards
- Addressing environmental and ecological concerns, the door core is CFC, HCFC and HFC free, and has a zero ODP and GWP rating. Factory applied paint and stain finishes are Low VOC, waterbased, high build and microporous. The vast majority of manufacturing waste is subsequently recycled.
- Every doorset made to order to precisely suit a specific location, embracing the customer’s personal choice of paint or stain finish, and glazing and door furniture preference, from our comprehensive range - collectively providing the end user with a truly individual entrance to their property.
